Bored? Have no extra money to spare? Kids bugging you to go out and do something but you don't know what to do. Have you researched free fun to -do's in your area or community center? Don't let these great resources pass you by. They are fun and inexpensive and can help to fill hours of time without lessening your wallet.
We are on day 3 of my 21 day challenge. Let's get out and play while saving money.
Where I live there are community centers in every city. These places are wonderful resources to take inexpensive classes and learn new things, utilize them. Classes are offered for all age groups and if those aren't your things no worries sit and read a book at the park, buy a Frisbee, play catch, make a picnic or plan a potluck with friends, go on a scavenger hunt, etc. The list goes on and most of these things are free or very cheap. This is great family time, catch some vitamin D and get some fresh air. My town has many fountains to enjoy and when it's hot outside that's a great way to cool off without skyrocketing your air conditioning bill.
Parks are a wonderful get away, most have basketball and tennis courts, and trails to explore. You can spend hours of frugal time frolicking in the grass and enjoying nature on a budget.
Find a community activity calendar at your local library (which also holds classes and has activities) or city hall or community center directly.
Your library is an excelelnt resourcs for thinsg to do.It's not just a place with books. a membership is free. You can rent videos, teach yourself a new language, use the internet on a computer you don't have to maintain. The library costs you nothing and you can spend hours there without having to purchase anything. Everyday the library in my town has family events, like children story time and craft making sessions to recycle goods that are lying around the house collecting dust.
There are tons of free activities around your area, you just have to look. Find your local newspaper or parent magazine for your area. Those usually offer coupons and things to do with the family or solo.
Just by paying attention you can catch a concert and a community meal and a game of basketball all live and local and at the touch of your finger tips.
