Having a baby? Wonderful! Have you thought about the cost involved with kids? Diapers, food, daily needs...etc. Having kids can add up quickly and can make it difficult to budget, read on for a few tips.
Kids going through their clothes quickly? Coating you lots of money
each month to clothe them? It's very easy to revamp your little ones
closet by using online services like Craigslist or Freecycle. If you're
not picky you can leave that money in you wallet to go out and have fun
with your kiddos rather that spending it on clothes that their wear one
time and never touch again.
Have you ever thought of having a mommies night in with friends and go through you little ones clothes and swap with the kid down the street. The clothes are new to the kid, you get an inexpensive night with pals and your can feel good that you are helping someone who might be in need of that winter jacket that your kid maybe doesn't like the color of and throws a fit over. It's a win-win. My daughter has tons of clothes and is set through her 5th year of life.
If swapping with others isn't your style then know where to shop for much needed items. For example diapers or making your own food.
I use cloth diapers and I spent less than $100 13 months ago and bought 12 cloth diapers and 6 diaper covers.
ADD IT UP!!!-
100.13 / 13 = 7.70
That's on average what I have spent a month on those diapers. Considering the average amount paid for a box of disposables is $20-$30 each time you purchase them and sometimes you can go through 7-10 packages a month. That's a crazy amount of savings.
Let's add this up using an average month of diaper usage:
30 x 8 =$240/mo
Hmmm... which would you rather spend $7.70 a month (and each month she uses the diapers that amount lowers) or $240/mo? It's a no brainer. This is an easy and economically , as well as wallet friendly way to do things.
Buy on Craigslist or things on freecycle. I had a baby over a year ago and have not had to buy her clothes or shoes or toys or even a stroller. Infants grow quickly and their items collect dust, often times people will just give the items away for free or for very cheap.
Even making food is easy. Buy a magic bullet and puree the infant food it's easy, healthier for your baby and less expensive. Often times we as adults don't want to eat those last grapes that are getting squishy in the package, or that bruised banana, there is nothing wrong with these items but we don't' like the way they look, your baby will love the robust flavor they have and be happy to munch on these treats. You will waste less and have a happy healthy baby on your hands.
